January is Learn a Snow Sport Month!
Skiing and snowboarding mean a lot of things- fresh powder, thrilling turns, clean mountain air…

… $12 cheeseburgers, embarrassment beyond belief…

But don’t be scared! Yes, these sports are expensive and a little challenging (sometimes even just the lift presents plenty of challenges). And if you’re a total beginner, shelling out $50+ for a lift ticket plus $20+ for equipment rental to fall on your butt all day probably doesn’t sound that appealing. But if you’re a Utah local and have never skied before, then you should take advantage of all the deals found here http://www.skiutah.com/winter/locals/lucky_13/index.html

There really is something cleansing/rejuvenating about escaping into the mountains for a day and coming back sore in places you didn’t know existed. If you’re a local, you really must take advantage of our beautiful mountains at least a few times in your life!

And as always, Alta offers free skiing on their Sunnyside lift at 3:00 every day of the season, with no blackout dates. And the rope tow is free all day. In fact, I may make a trip up the canyon today myself.
