I keep finding myself saying things like “Oh goody, I ran the dishwasher tonight- that means I get to have a hot shower in the morning!”
It’s being lazy. It heats the water up to the correct temperature, but then if I don’t use it, it won’t keep it at that temperature. It’s a snob- it only likes to heat new water. So when I go out of town, or shower at the gym for a couple days and basically don’t use any hot water, then upon returning to my own shower I’m greeted by lukewarm discomfort. Mind you, if I’d found a shower as warm as this “lukewarm discomfort” during my travels in South America I would have been ecstatic, but alas I’ve grown accustomed to being a spoiled American again. Dangit.
And yeah, sorry for the lame post again, but my internet is still being a jerk and not allowing me the bandwidth to upload a single picture or watch Betty White on Saturday Night Live. It’s a tough life sometimes.
But it’s a good day, because I did get a hot shower this morning, because I did run the dishwasher last night.

I keep hoping our water heater will just die before next March because we have a one year home warranty that would cover it (minus a $55 deductible). It works fine most of the time, but sometimes for no reason I know of it won’t produce enough hot water to fill the tub. And I love a hot bath.

I hear what you’re saying about the whole “spoiled American” thing, but that’s frustrating! And so are slow internet/computers. I’ve had the same problem for quite some time now. It makes blogging very difficult!

Go tankless! I need one of those. We have a huge beast of a water heater, a lot bigger than the normal ones are and a tankless would be divine. I love hot hot showers, I’m usually all red when I get out. So I hear ya on being spoiled!

oh for the love! Can things just work right, please? Our fairly new furnace keeps shutting off in the middle of the night. Thank goodness it’s almost warm here.. not quite though. Sorry about the lack of hot water. That kind of trick would totally entice me into getting the dishes done each night though. I have yet to do mine yet, and it’s bedtime. hmph.

i agree with Sara. My friend has a tankless water heater and it’s AMAZING!! it takes a little bit longer for the wather to get hot but after it’s there.. it just stays there!! Love ya!!

Pretty sure you gotta have a water softener if you’re gonna go tankless or the minerals in the water will destroy it within a year or two. But, I’m sure there’s a grant or something relating to it cause they’re more efficient.
So, it’s your job to research it and then let all of your faithful blog commenters know what you came up with.

I wonder if your water heater has a vacation setting that can be adjusted because our old water heater would automatically cool down if we were out of town to save energy. Maybe, it just needs a adjustment. Wishful thinking maybe.
