I’m making a Roman shade (note to self: google “Why are Roman shades Roman”).
I started with some $3.99 mini blinds,
Gave them a slat-ectomy,
And glued (yes, glued) some fabric to them.
There is a problem though. Apparently someone slipped some drugs into my huevos rancheros, because I somehow glued the heavy bottom piece on all lopsided.
On this side, the fabric comes out farther than the plastic piece:
On this side, the plastic piece sticks out:
I don’t have any idea how such a tragedy happened, nor do I know if it’s worth my time to peel off the piece and do it again. Sigh… I probably will though. I got two opinions on the matter.
Carrie:

It's fine! no one will notice it.
Wendy:

Stink eye
Who’s right- Carrie or Wendy?

You did a fabulous job! Love it! No one will notice! I just love that fabric. I’m feeling kinda inspired now which makes me a wee bit mad cuz I have so much else to do.

Wow great idea, and nice choice on the fabric. You could always trim the long side and glue it on the short side? But either way I don’t think most people would notice.

Wendy isn’t giving you a stink eye, it’s just how she looks.

That is seriously gorgeous fabric! I think you should decide if the little mistake bugs YOU or not. If it doesn’t concern you, leave it as is. No ones going to look closely at the bottom of your blinds. But if it does bug you now, it’ll just bug you more in the future so fix it now. I also like how you made use of veggie cans. π

Wait two days and if it still gnaws when you wake up in the dead of night, then replace. Personally, I’m a laid back sort of crafter.

I love the fabric choice – so fun! Don’t you hate it when you put all this time and work into something and it comes out almost perfect, but not quite? If it bothers you, probably fix it – otherwise you may think about it every time you see them. However, we’re our toughest critics so if you’re cool with it, I bet no one will notice. They look amazing!!!

1. Love the fabric.
2. I’m pretty lazy myself so I’d try to avoid redoing it. Maybe you can just add a bit of fabric to cover the one end that sticks out?

lol. This is totally something I would do. In the end, I think I would redo it so it was right, but I’d bitch and moan about it the entire time. I’m not very mature sometimes π I love the fabric though and it’s a great idea. If you decide not to fix it, I’m sure no one will notice either. It’s not a huge deal.

I’m loving the fabric. And, I would totally leave it even though it would annoy me every.single.time I saw it. Trust me, I have a set of curtains that look horrible at the bottom and it bugs me every time I see them.

I’m with Emily- will it bother YOU?
Awesome idea, and I’m jacking it for the kitchen.

Great idea!
As far as regluing or leaving it be is concernced, I know it would bug me, but maybe after a few days it won’t seem like a major deal?

Oh oh oh! I’m very interested in this project! I have several windows in my house that are in dire need of window treatments, and I’ve been trying to think of what to do. I might have to check out those instructions on Little Green Notebook.
The lopsidedness is probably only something that you would notice, but I can understand that it would be annoying. Can you just cut the excess plastic off that one side? haha

[…] some catch- up. Remember way back way back when when I made a Roman shade out of some $4 Target blinds? And then I never hung it up? And it hung around my house forever […]
